After failing to raise the $1.5 million needed for the renovations of the Lucy Simms building, the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Boys and Girls Clubs accepted the city council's resolution to reduce the yearly amount of funds the city gives to the club for the next 15 years.

A representative from the club says this allows the organization to switch from it's capital plan to its fundraising efforts by going after larger amounts of modest donors.

The club says raising an additional $50,000 a year is an achievable goal.
