A plan for the Boys & Girls Club of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County to pay back some of its debt has been approved. The club owes just under $200,000 to the Harrisonburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority
The Housing Authority approved the plan calling for the club to repay $196,796.37 in a meeting Wednesday afternoon. Those payments will be made interest free unless the Boys & Girls Club sends a payment more than seven days late, at which time they may be required to pay five percent interest.
The club will have to pay quarterly payments on the first of April, July, August, and January, in chunks of $6,667.67. Those payments are schedule to begin April of this year.
This debt is not to be confused with the $5 million the Boys & Girls Club owes the city of Harrisonburg. The club fell short of raising that money when they were only able to come up with $33,000.
The club has since accepted a resolution to reduce the yearly amount it gets from the city for the next 15 years.
