It's been months in the making but Monday night, the Waynesboro City Council will get their first glimpse at the city's new comprehensive plan.

The plan will include new ordinances and zoning for the city over the next 20 years. The goal is to map out a way for Waynesboro to grow and allow more space for the necessities.

City councilwoman Lorie Smith says, "We know we're expected to continue growing, so we've got to make sure we're planning for appropriate infrastructure, that we're planning for appropriate school space."

This plan is the first one to be done in the River City in more than ten years.

City leaders have taken the public's input about the future of Waynesboro to help them put the plan together. The plan will soon be on display for all residents to view.
