Firefighters Build a Special Gift

The paralyzed victim of a Harrisonburg shooting is receiving a special gift from some unexpected friends. This gift will have a huge impact in his life.

On Tuesday, members of the Harrisonburg Fire Department partnered with Lowe's to make modifications to Richmond Brandon's home that will make it accessible for people with disabilities.

Several off duty firefighters began work early Tuesday morning to build a special bathroom for Richmond that will feature a roll-in shower. His father, Ronnie, says it's a gift of freedom.

"Building together has been a blessing, because financially we really could not afford to have a bathroom remodeled," says Ronnie. "So this has been a God send."

Ronnie has retired to take care of his son full time.
