The Rockingham County Board of Supervisors approved a 90-foot stealth cell tower Wednesday night.

Representatives from Alltel Telecommunications said the tower was needed for additional coverage.

It will go next to a Shentel tower that is located at a site near the Massanutten Resort.

Alltell says the separate tower is needed because the Shentel tower already has two carriers.

The location for the towers will be on Meadowvista Lane, north east of Resort Drive on Route 644.
