SPRINGFIELD, Va. (AP) -- Two women say they were groped in Springfield within a half hour of each other this week, and police are investigating whether the incidents are tied to past groping incidents.
The attacks on Wednesday would be the 16th and 17th victims of a serial groper in the Springfield area.
In the first case Wednesday, a 30-year-old woman was walking on Dinwiddie Street near Dana Avenue when she was grabbed from behind and groped. About 25 minutes later, a 25-year-old woman was walking on Backlick Road near Cabin John Road when she felt someone grope her.
The first similar groping attack occurred in early September. Most have happened in the Springfield area. Each has produced the same general description of a suspect.
