A dog park in the city of Harrisonburg is one step closer to reality.

The city Parks and Recreation Board unanimously approved the project Monday.

Several sites are being looked at for the park, including Purcell Park.

The project is estimated to cost about $40,000.

It's now up to the city council to give final approval to the recommendation.
