Protecting your home from a fire is the emphasis for this year's National Fire Prevention Week.
With the down economy, Harrisonburg fire officials say they expect to see people using more space heaters and burning more firewood.
Officials say in the last few years, they've started to see a resurgence in chimney fires.
They've got a display set up at the Valley Mall this week trying to answer questions for people as we move into the cold-weather season.
"Especially with this year, the high price of oil is probably going to have people trying to invent ways to heat their homes that they ordinarily would not do," says Lt. Wanda Willis of the Harrisonburg Fire Department. "They may be burning their wood stoves again for the first time in a long time, and they need to make sure their chimneys are well-cleaned and looked at by a professional."
Officials with the Harrisonburg Fire Department will be at the Valley Mall through Saturday.
