It's not often a fire department has extra cash lying around, but when they do, they put it to good use.
The Staunton Fire Department has plenty of change left over from last year's $200,000 FEMA grant. SFD used the money to replace 36 breathing devices. Thanks to competitive bidding, the station has an extra $13,000 to play with. Staunton will pump $8,000 public awareness programs and purchase new smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
