The cities of Staunton, Virginia and
Fort Smith, Arkansas are the finalists for a U.S. Marshals Museum.
The decision by the U.S. Marshals Museum Committee eliminates
Cheyenne, Wyoming and Hollywood, California from the running.
Fort Smith leaders have spent three years campaigning to bring
the museum to the Arkansas city.
Arkansas officials made the announcement today.
The U.S. Marshals Service has been around for 200 years, but has
never had a permanent museum. The agency is based in Arlington.
Officials choosing between Staunton and Fort Smith will visit
the cities this fall.
