The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum was full of red, white and blue Sunday to celebrate Flag Day.

President Wilson established Flag Day in 1916, saying we should show our love and pride for our country.

Museum visitors received little flags and flag stickers as part of the celebration.

The museum says Woodrow Wilson's connection to the holiday isn't the only reason it's important.

"The flag is a national symbol of the United States and I think we need to in these times look at the national symbols and celebrate our symbols and enjoy the history of the United States and the heritage it's provided us," says Bob Wright, an interpreter for the Woodrow Wilson Museum.

Flag Day was made a national holiday in 1949 by President Harry Truman.
