Put Up Your Dukes

Pretty soon the Duke Dog will be popping up all over the Friendly City. James Madison University is selling smaller versions of the Duke Dog Statue that's in front of the Plecker Center on campus. It's all part of JMU's Centennial Celebration.

Each dog is $1500, which includes fees to have an artist decorate the statue any way a buyer chooses. The Duke Dogs will be displayed throughout Harrisonburg and on JMU's campus. The money raised goes toward the celebration for the Centennial Anniversary.

"This is more than a history lesson, although we are going to look at JMU's rich heritage, but this is a good way to celebrate in the truer sense of the word, have a celebration and have the entire community involved," says JMU Centennial Director Fred Hilton.

Anyone can purchase a Duke Dog. About 20 have already been sold. For more information follow the featured links on our Web site.
