The Rockingham Memorial Hospital flu clinic has expanded to a larger facility. Monday was the first day the new clinic was open.
Hospital officials decided to expand, in size and hours of operation, to decrease the number of flu patients visiting the emergency room.
Officials say the clinic will stay open for as long as the flu continues to be a problem in the county.
"We were open mainly on weekend evenings, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. And our emergency department was still seeing a very large number of patients all the other days of the week. So we thought it was time to open seven days a week," says Terri Huffman, clinic organizer.
Huffman says the flu clinic sees about 20 patients an evening.
The clinic is located in the Cloverleaf Plaza off East Market Street in Harrisonburg.
