Some Valley students are heading down to the Big Easy to help out those who still need a home. A James Madison University group, called the Campus Crusade for Christ, is finalizing plans for their trip in mid-August. About 30 volunteers will work with Habitat for Humanity to build houses for Hurricane Katrina victims. The group went during spring break, and one volunteer says she wants to continue to give the victims some hope.
"Because they, they're really discouraged right now, not a lot of groups are down there helping them, a lot of volunteers have pulled out so I just want to give them some hope, let them know that we're there, that people do remember them," says Jen Griffith, a JMU student.
The group needs to raise money to go on this trip. If you would like to learn more or help donate, you can go to our featured links section.
