Habitat Houses Eco Friendly

The Augusta County Habitat for Humanity is trying to make their houses more environmentally friendly, and save money at the same time.

These new houses near Waynesboro are the test subjects for the project.

The idea is to make them more energy friendly, and in the long time more affordable.

And more housing is needed because Augusta county doesn't have many low cost options left.

"The vanguard of the future for affordability is going to be in your utilities, you've got your taxes, they keep going up, you've got your insurance, it keeps going up, building prices are going up, but a family can control some utility cost and therefore make that house affordable," says Rhonda Howdyshell.

The houses should be ready to move into by fall.
