ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. -- February is anti-bullying month and as part of that, Rockingham County school employees are taking action.

One of the items on Monday night's school board meeting agenda is anti-bullying.

Director of Secondary Instruction Scott Bojanich said it is all about recognizing bullying.

Bojanich said the meeting will focus on the results of a video conference across the school system Friday.

Teachers and administrators heard from a nationally known expert on school violence and bullying.

The meeting will also be a chance for the 23 committee members to talk about their plans for the rest of the month.

Administrators want students to know how to recognize bullying. Later this month committee members would like for students of all grade levels to watch videos showing strategies to combat bullying.

Bojanich said that it's so important to add to practices already in place because the face of bullying is changing.

"If your child has a smartphone with Facebook access and tweeting access they can't get away from it and so you know bullying has taken on a whole different direction than it used to," Bojanich said.

The school board meeting is open to the public and will be held at Lacey Springs Elementary School at 7 p.m.

Other items on the agenda include budget planning for 2013 to 2014.
