STAUNTON --The Staunton Downtown Development Association is urging neighbors to love downtown by giving back. Organizers say it's a good use of what is know as "cause marketing."

Every day in February, businesses in Staunton will be donating part of their proceeds to a Valley non-profit organization. February is usually a big fundraising month for many of them.

The "Love, Downtown" campaign highlights good relationships. One non-profit that benefits is the American Shakespeare Center.

"Love, Downtown supports many valuable and important organizations and charities. All the merchants, the amount of philanthropy that they do is astonishing. It's great to be in a community of such giving people," said Christina Sayer Grey, marketing director of the American Shakespeare Center.
