ROCKINGHAM COUNTY -- The Rockingham County Emergency Response Team staged something that could be straight out of a disaster movie. It was to practice the best techniques to respond to a stage collapse.
The drill is called a mass casualty incident simulation. Students volunteered to act as victims of a bleacher collapse. Rescue teams used the drill to practice their emergency abilities.
, said, "We are just trying to prepare for an event with large numbers of people injure," said Jeremy Holloway, Chief of Fire and Rescue.
"We just wanted to help out as much as we could and we wanted to do it as a big brotherhood unit," said Will Smythe, a Delta Chi fraternity brother.
Drills like this allow first responders to get real practice. More than 60 volunteers acted the part of victims in the drill.
