Cantrell Avenue in Harrisonburg will be renamed Martin Luther King Jr. Way on January 2.

Thursday, signs were replaced at a price tag of $25,000. This isn't the only price tag related to the renaming. Many businesses will have to change everything from business cards and licenses to their online presence. This can be a very long, difficult, and costly process.

Several businesses were opposed to the renaming, but were somewhat comforted by a claim Harrisonburg City Council made to set up a fund to help reimburse their costs.

While some businesses told us they thought this option was removed, this may not be the case.

"We instructed city staff to look into working with any effective property owners to see what kind of costs they were going to incur because of the renaming. Last time I talked to staff, they were still taking a look at it," said Vice-Mayor Charles Chenault.
