VERONA -- A Valley church is about to get a lot of national attention when the organ they use every Sunday travels to Washington, D.C. for what's being called a "David and Goliath battle of the ages."

Last May the old pipe organ at Verona United Methodist Church was replaced with an electronic version and it is one of the first organs ever to invent sound.

The new organ is manufactured by an Italian company and is the first electronic organ to not use prerecorded samples. Advanced computers inside replicate the sounds of an entire orchestra at the speed of 12 billion pieces of information per second. To test just how authentic it sounds, the organ will be taken to Washington, D.C. next month to go head to head with a normal organ with nearly 35 hundred pipes.

"I will tell you there are some people that have told me they can't tell the difference. Why did we spend all that money? There are other people, who can tell the difference. When it's turned up all the way these chandeliers actually swing from the sound that it can create," said Sue MacTavish, the nurture chair of Verona United Methodist.

The organ will be taken to Washington, D.C. after Sunday services on March 10th and will be back in time to create music for services the following week.
