AUGUSTA COUNTY -- Knights and ladies in Augusta County today celebrated one of the oldest sports in history: jousting.
Ring jousting, that is - no knocking each other off their horses. Riders have eight seconds to get their horse down the 80-yard track, while trying to catch as many rings as possible on their lance.
Organizers said it is the 192nd annual tournament at Natural Chimneys Park.
Toni Casady has been jousting for 17 years.
"It really is pretty hard until you get the hang of it," he said. "But once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake. It's like doing homework or something."
Casady said jousting is a sport that has struggled in recent years, but the Natural Chimneys Jousting Club is working to keep it alive. And Casady is doing his part to help - two of his kids also joust.
