HARRISONBURG -- An eye opening documentary came to the Valley on Tuesday night.
The film, "Bully," shows parents and teachers the extent of bullying.
“Bully” is a documentary which follows five families who have experienced bullying, including two families whose children were driven to suicide because of this issue.
“Bully” aims to give an in depth look at what a bullied child experiences every day.
Dr. Katie Tricarico, a James Madison University professor, saw the film a few months ago. Dr. Tricarico brought the film to JMU, hoping it would inspire the community to help end bullying.
“Ending bullying is really a community effort,” said Dr. Tricarico, “It's not something that we can just solve in schools or in the classroom. We need parents and community support to really make a difference.”
The film was shown Tuesday night on JMU's campus and a discussion was held after the showing.
The documentary will also be screened Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Memorial Hall on JMU's campus.
