HARRISONBURG (WHSV) -- Starting Friday, and for the rest of the winter season, Court Square Theater is ramping up its films with an event called Film Fest.
The event is also a celebration of the new partnership they have with Visulite Cinemas. As a result of this partnership, the theater will be able to improve the volume and quality of movies that are offered.
The theater will still have national bands, live theater, comedy shows and community events. However, during the winter season the main focus will be shifted to movies.
That includes an increase in the number of showings. Usually, there are only about three showings per week. During the winter season, the theater plans to offer seven.
Michael Weaver, the manager of Court Square Theater, said he hopes this will give downtown a boost by bringing more people into the area that wouldn't normally come.
"We have an opportunity to follow our mission which is the community. We aren't trying to bring in "Fast and Furious 7". We are trying to bring in films that Regal isn't bringing in and that a lot of people want to see," said Weaver.
Court Square Theater is kicking off Film Fest with the movie, "Enough Said."
The first showing is at 5:30 p.m.
