HARRISONBURG, Va---Attorney General and candidate for governor Ken Cuccinelli visited Harrisonburg to discuss economic growth with business and agriculture leaders.
Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce President Frank Tamberrino said he wants the next governor to keep a healthy business climate.
Cuccinelli said his main focus is job growth. He said he will accomplish that through tax reforms, and energy approach and workforce development.
During the meeting, Cuccinelli also discussed the importance of fixed the transportation system. He said he wants to use the money that will come into the state from the transportation overhaul wisely.
He said Virginia is one of the most centralized states when it comes to transportation decision-making.
"More of that decision making, meaning the money that goes with it, control the money that goes with it, should be outside of Richmond and we need to restructure VDOT and that decision-making process to achieve that," said Cuccinelli.
Cuccinelli's opponent Terry McAuliffe met with business leaders in the area last month. Tamberrino said his focus is also to create jobs by working with small businesses and entrepreuneurs.
