Driver Hits 72-year-old Pedestrian

An elderly man gets hit by a car when crossing a street in Harrisonburg on Sunday.

Harrisonburg police said the driver was trying to make a right turn on red before hitting him.
This happened around 3:20 p.m. on Cantrell Avenue and South Mason street.

Police said 34-year-old Phaddeus Christophel is charged with failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian.

The 74-year-old man was trying to cross Mason Street.

His wife took him to the hospital with minor injuries.
