ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. -- Virginia State Police say this incident actually involved two separate crashes, which shut down the area near mile marker 260 on Interstate 81, but that area has since been reopened.

The first crash happened at about 6:40 a.m. Tuesday when a tractor trailer had mechanical issues and was in the right hand lane. A Ford pickup truck hit the back of the tractor trailer. The 40-year-old driver of the Ford was taken to Rockingham Memorial hospital with minor injuries and she is charged with reckless driving.

The second crash happened moments later when an 87-year-old man from New York hit the back of the Ford with his car. He was treated at the scene and is doing well.
