PORT REPUBLIC -- You and your kids may like it but some snow may cause problems for farmers, but some farmers think this might be a good thing. Stephen Saufley is a beef cattle farmer. He believes snow sometimes brings joy to he and his family.
"I enjoy it. But if it gets prolonged, it gets old real quick," Saufley said.

Like everything, snow always brings challenges. Saufley noted"We have to always be aware of what the weather is going to be like on the farm. Because when we have cattle that's about a mile or two away, some farmers have them farther than that, you gotta be able to get the cattle to feed."

Everyone really likes when the snow is melting but the problem is all the snow turns into water. This may cause fields to flood. That means a lot a mud, which can create it's own challenges. According to Saufley, "especially when you are working with live stock and feeding cattle and being sure that they have the water and stuff that they need. Sometimes, mud can be worse than snow."

Saufley would like the water to end up somewhere else besides his fields. "Hopefully most of it will run into the ground, instead of running into our streams. but they need to be recharged as well. It's an opportunity for us to clean out the atmosphere a little bit and it also provide a little nitrogen for the spring crops."

Saufley hopes there isn't another snowfall this season. If there is one, he would like some time in between.Farmers all around believe that snow fall like this is a good thing. Snow restores some of the damaged soil and even adds a little something extra to the land.
