HARRISONBURG, Va –- Fire personnel from Augusta County and Harrisonburg all took a week-long class to get certified on installing car seats. Thursday was their last day to show their new skills.
They came out to the Dream Come True playground in Harrisonburg to help parents with their car seats.
Erin Stehle is the car seat safety technician for Harrisonburg and she said it is especially important for fire crews to know how to do this.
"They see a lot. A lot of times they're responding to car accidents. They're responding to events. You know they never know what they're going to get,” said Stehle. “So it's great to have people trained, so they're there making sure the children get home safely more so than when they came in. So you never can plan those things."
Stehle said next week is car seat safety week so they will be all around Harrisonburg showing parents how to keep their kids safe in the car.
