ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va -- Kids from Pleasant Valley Elementary School got fired up on Tuesday. They got to see a special burn demonstration by the Massanutten Technical Center and Rockingham County Fire and Rescue.
A fire truck and ambulance arrived on the scene of the demonstration. The fire department set a car on fire to show kids how a fire rescue works.
It was part of Fire Prevention Week to teach students about fire safety.
Marshall Price, the director of Massanutten Technical Center, said it was important for kids to learn what to do in case of a fire.
“We think its important to teach students, especially elementary students about safety,” said Price. “Checking their fire detectors also making sure they have a fire drill at home just like they practice at school.”
Students at the technical center acted out the safety drill. They have been taking classes on firefighting and rescue.
