BRIDGEWATER -- A woman in Bridgewater is experiencing the aftermath of flooding near her home tonight.
She wants the department of Inland fisheries to evaluate the river near her home.
Sandra Hammer says the river near her home was empty on Thursday. She blames yesterday's downpour for the water rising in the river and flooding her property.
Hammer says she loses part of her land every time the water in the river rises, she's concerned about the safety of her grandchildren.
"We had two foot of water in front of our house, the whole road was covered. We had to take our car and move it next door and I had to drive up the road with it. Logs and everything else in the roads and we just need somebody to take care of it," said Hammer.
She had to call the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) yesterday to close the roadways in front of her home.
