Billions of dollars worth of food stamp benefits will be cut on Friday. The cuts total $5 billion.
When the stimulus package was passed in 2009, it included extra funding for food stamps. Now that temporary provision will expire on November 1st.
Doctor Bob Roberts said one argument is that families who don't have a lot still, even after the recession, will have difficulties.
"Criticism of the change is that it's not a very good time to cut those benefits. On the other hand, Republicans argue that that money was only temporary, number one. Two, that money we had to borrow," said Dr. Roberts, JMU Political Analyst.
If you are on food stamps, you should have already received emails and letters about the change.
