A man is found dead in Harrisonburg and police are trying to find out why. Officers are calling the death suspicious.
"It was pretty sad news this morning." said Junior Nava, the victim's friend. Nava and his wife and kids live across the street from the victim who they called family.
Nava says, "We have two little girls and he actually looked at them as their grandfather. He was a pretty nice guy around here and he never bothered nobody."
Harrisonburg police say the man's body was found in an apartment on Dutch Mill Court at 8:30 Thursday morning.
Officers aren't saying how he died, they are just calling it a suspicious death. Investigators set up a command center near the apartment. Forensics collected evidence inside the apartment. Crews also went through a nearby dumpster looking for anything that could help answer any questions.
With so many questions still unanswered, Nava says he's afraid and is thinking about moving his family out.
"Finding this today, it's kinda scary. If that happened to him, the same thing could happen to us or somebody around here."
Nava did tell us the victim's name, but we aren't using it because Harrisonburg police won't confirm the information. If you know anything that can help police, call Crime Solvers at 540-574-5050.
