HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- According to the Office on Children and Youth in Harrisonburg, the teen pregnancy rate in Harrisonburg is triple the rate of the rest of Virginia.

The Harrisonburg Pregnancy Center is working on a 5k event to raise money for women in the Valley, facing unintended pregnancy.

Jessica Williams is one new mother who said this statistic is a shock and makes her nervous for her own daughter.

"It is scary to think my baby is going to grow up in a world where [the pregnancy rate] is already that much higher. So, when she is older, who knows, and that is a scary thought," said Williams.

The race is April 12 at Spotswood Elementary School.
