HARRISONBURG, Va -- Workers at Lindsey Funeral Home on Main St are collecting winter wear for the first time. Coats and jackets can be dropped off inside the front door.

Collection started at the beginning of October and will run through December.

A Lindsey Funeral Home manager hopes to be able to give coats to many schools. She wants people to know the funeral home is not just a business, but it is there for the community.

"We thought that it would a be nice gesture for the community, and I know there's a real need for it, having kids who went through the schools here. I want to help children. If they're cold, it's just something that I want to change," said Shelly Biller, a manager at the funeral home.

She hopes to get a lot more donations. If she does not, she said she will use her own money to make sure needy kids are warm this winter.
