AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va -- The Community Action Partnership of Staunton, Augusta and Waynesboro, also known as CAPSAW, typically gets about $165,000 from the federal government to fund their programs.

As of now, that money has not come through because of budget cuts.

CAPSAW Coordinator Anna Leavitt hopes Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County councils will help the program while they await federal funding.

“If the agencies don't have that money to spend, they might not be able to offer those services,” said Leavitt. “It's a direct result of the federal budget not being passed, or that money not filtering down as quickly or as on schedule as it used to.”

Money from the cities and county would cover the funds from the government until CAPSAW is able to pay them back. Staunton City Council will talk about helping CAPSAW Thursday night.
