VERONA, Va. -- Gun Shack workers said they were definitely busy this weekend. Even though Christmas was in a little more than one week, they said the rush was for other reasons.

After a shocking story of an elementary school shooting in Connecticut, many gun collectors were afraid that stricter gun restrictions were coming.

Jordan Coffman's works at the Gun Shack, which is a shop owned by his father.

Coffman said most people were worried about future restrictions on black rifles and hand guns in particular. He said a lot of people came in this past weekend looking for concealed carry licenses in fear it may get harder to get them in the months to come.

No matter the reason, the Gun Shack was a busy place to be this weekend.

"From the time I was in here, we sold, I lost count, but we did sell a good many. I mean people are just preparing themselves for what could happen, I guess," said Coffman.

Coffman said people purchase guns to collect them or just to use for fun, like for hunting or target practice, but he said people are definitely thinking more about self defense these days.
