HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Home remedies for the flu are flying off the shelves at Kate's Natural Products store.
For those who aren't used to homeopathic methods, Ralph Magri, the store owner, said it's worth a try.
"This is going to be more of a preventative and a symptom relief and these products tend to lessen the duration and severity so you can function a little better,” said Magri, “This flu has been pretty decimating to folks having to stay inside and in bed for weeks."
If you start having a sore throat, Magri recommends astragulus. It's a pill you can take daily in the winter and Magri said it can help to boost your immune system.
Elderberry concentrate, which you can put in water, is also popular. Magri is constantly having to order new shipments.
The Centers for Disease Control recommend you get a flu vaccine every year. Officials say that is the first and most important step to fight the flu.
