AUGUSTA COUNTY -- With the retirement of seasoned nurses, Augusta Health is scouting for other experienced nurses to fill those positions.

On Wednesday, applicants interviewed all day and could find out as soon as Thursday whether they have the job. There was a steady flow of interested nurses and each applicant was interviewed on the spot.

Current nurses are retiring or going to part time and there are a lot of spaces to fill.

Leigh Ann Solometo was a nurse in northern Virginia for the past 27 years. She just moved to the Valley in October and was ready to go back to work. She was impressed with the process and excited for the opportunity.

"Health care has changed so much, and it's going to continue to change,” said Solometo, “So, to have this, and see the organization behind it, what they've done, has been really a professional top notch experience. So, I would say it's been great, I look forward to maybe working here."

Applicants need to have at least one year of experience to apply.
