STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- Hot Wok, the restaurant that one woman claimed refused to hire her because of her pregnancy has responded to the claims.

The restaurant said that it did not discriminate against Margo Sams because of her pregnancy.

It said it is an equal opportunity employer.

Margo Sams, a mother of two girls, tried getting a job at Hot Wok and was immediately hired, but then the manager took back the offer.

She believed it was because the manager saw her pregnant belly.

Lawyers representing Hot Wok said it was all a misunderstanding.

The law offices of Black, Noland and Read say one of the managers at the restaurant hired Margo for a position that was already filled.

The Staunton Mall Hot Wok managers say they have a current pregnant employee.

A language barrier prevented them from responding to the claims sooner.
