STAUNTON, Va -- President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are getting ready for the first presidential debate, which is scheduled for Wednesday night. The candidates are not just practicing their policies, they are also rehearsing their 'zingers.'
Jim Josefson is a Bridgewater College political science professor and he said 'zingers' are those one-liners that really grab voters. He said for those voters who are still undecided, those 'zingers' can really have an effect in this debate.
"They always prepare these things. Are they able to land those punches with the required dexterity and force, such that people really pay attention to it, remember it?" said Josefson.
Josefson said people remember those punches more than the actual policies that are debated.
