Local School Recognizes National Bullying Prevention Month

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- October is National Bullying Prevention Month. To show their support, students and staff from Lacey Spring Elementary School wore orange, the color for bullying prevention awareness.

Lacey Spring Elementary Principal Donna Robinson said events like these are important because it includes everyone and encourages the students to stay supportive.

"We want students to feel safe, not even just in school, but also if they are out and about. We want to teach our students how to prevent bullying," said Robinson.

Robinson said this is something the school works on preventing all year long. In the beginning of every school year, students attend a bullying lesson led by the school counselor. During the class, they are asked to list the names of anyone who has ever bullied them. If a student's name appears more than three times, administration gets involved.
