Streets in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County were a little safer over the New Year's holiday weekend.

Several impaired drivers who decided to drink and drive found themselves in jail.

Local authorities stepped up enforcement and held drivers accountable.

In Rockingham County, 14 drivers were arrested for DUI.

That's considered an average number of arrests for that time period.

Harrisonburg City police made three arrests.

Two people were charged with DUI, while one was charged with driving after consuming alcohol.

Harrisonburg made no arrests last New Year's eve, but two were arrested the year before.
