Mary Baldwin College Hosts Day of Service

Mary Baldwin College celebrated its first annual Day of Service Friday.

The school partnered with Rebuilding Together and Habitat for Humanity to work on several projects.

Several students were in Gypsy Hill Park, helping to build a lighting display for the holidays.

It's to help illustrate the theme of what Habitat for Humanity has done in the community.

Students say they enjoyed lending a hand on this day of service.

"I like giving back because there are people who don't have a lot and I feel like I need to help them because I do have more than they do," says Kayla Dalton, an MBC student.

Students were creating the shapes of wire hammers around wooden stakes to represent the 50 homes Habitat for Humanity has built in Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County.
