HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Monday is the deadline to sign-up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act; however, many people experienced issues with healthcare.gov when trying to get covered.
Even if you have seen messages saying that the site is down, you could still face a fine if you don't have health insurance by the end of Monday.
Community leaders said it has been a crazy day as they work to help sign-up people.
With many people coming in at the last minute and many people also having trouble with the website, Ben Wood, a local application counselor with the Valley Community Services Board, said it's been a busy last week.
"The general human nature effect is going to be people have been waiting to the last minute, like with most other things to try to take care of getting health care, and I think that we'll probably see a pretty good increase in calls," said Wood.
If you don't start the process of signing up Monday, you will have to wait until November for open enrollment.
