AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. -- A Maryland man now faces a first degree murder charge in the shooting death of Melvin Jordan.
Jordan was shot last spring outside of the Skyline Motel in Fishersville. Family and friends said Jordan was recovering at the motel when he died.
Jerad Ross faced an attempted murder charge, but that charge was upgraded to first degree murder after Jordan died months after deputies say he was shot by Ross. A multi-jurisdiction grand jury heard testimony in the case and indicted Ross with those charges Friday afternoon.
