ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va --- A new report by the Federal Aviation Administration states the pilot had engine trouble. WHSV Reporter Deon Guillory spoke to the man behind the preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board to break down some of the details.

The report is a detailed account of the plane crash that killed Pennsylvania man, Brian Hall. It explains that Hall's plane had major damage when it hit trees and the damage happened during a forced landing after Hall reported engine trouble.

The entire crash happened in about nine minutes.

The NTSB spokesperson said investigators examined the engine and they found that engine accessories like wires and cables were damaged from the plane's impact. The core of the engine, however, is working fine.

Crews are not just looking at one particular thing. Navigational aids like iPads and also the weather played a big part.

Investigators are still collecting data. The NTSB's factual report is not expected to be presented to its board for at least another year.
