HARRISONBURG -- With the doors shutting on Pope Benedict's reign, many people are wondering if he will be invovled in his retirement.
"I don't think that he's going to interfere in any kind of direct way," said Dr. Bass.
With the conclave welcoming more American cardinals.Could there be an American Pope?
"No, there won't be an American pope," Dr. Bass laughed.
Times are changing on this 2000 year old religion. Social issues are now becoming more prominent.
"I don't expect that those are going to change. I think the the Vatican will remain in a fairly conventional and traditional direction," said Dr. Bass.
Sarah Heider is a James Madison University freshmen. She's actively involved in it's Catholic Campus Ministry. With the times changing she said some new polices would be nice.
"It would be a really refreshing pace to see women priests," said Heider.
Sarah believes overall the values such as fighting poverty and adjusting it's worship services are great. She would like to see more.
" I think that with modern society, it would be interesting to see how some of these new social issues would be incorporated into the Church. Like the issue of a priest getting married," said Heider.
Only time will tell what will happen when the new pope is elected. But for now everyone must wait.
