HARRISONBURG, Va -- Neighbors in the Valley came together for "One Great Day of Sharing." The rotary clubs in the area sponsored a drive for Blue Ridge Food pantries. They wanted to help replenish the food pantries in the area.
There were drop-off locations at six different grocery stores in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. The food drive lasted until 6 p.m. on Friday night.
Organizers for "One Great Day of Sharing" wanted to help lessen the demand for food in our area.
"The hunger situation, even in our community, is at an all time high and food banks are having a difficult time staying in front of the need and so anything we can do to help is significant," said Steve Wingfield, a food drive organizer.
The six locations were Bridgewater Food Supermarket, Friendly City Co-Op, Kroger, Red Front and the Harrisonburg and Rockinigham County Wal-Marts.
