New state grants will add school resource officers to more than 40 Virginia schools.

Page county public schools is one of the school districts that will be receiving a grant.

The grants will fund salaries and benefits for school resource officers in schools that do not have a school resource officer.

"Sandy Hook is a perfect example of what could go wrong in a hurry. The actions of one person, it's just devastating and we want to minimize the likelihood and school resource officers will contribute to that," said Morgan Phenix, the Chairman of the Page County school board.

Phenix says there is no confirmation yet as to which schools will receive the resource officers.
