STAUNTON -- After the Immigration Reform bill passed in the Senate, some people in the Valley wonder what will be next. Valley supporters of the bill are excited for what may come.

The passage isn't exactly what they wanted but it's something in the right direction.

Isabel Castillo has lived in the Valley nearly all her life. She is an undocumented immigrant and she supports the Senate's decision.

"It's a exciting moment. It's not a perfect bill but I think it's a step forward," said Castillo.

Castillo said she knows the vote still has to go through the House. It may not be as easy as the Senate.

"It's gonna be an up hill but we're excited that slowly, comprehensive immigration reform or the path to citizenship might become a reality," said Castillo.

Ricardo Cortez also supports the legislation. He was born in the United States but has family wanting to become citizens. He hopes when the bill heads to the House the bill stays intact.

"Instead of chopping the bill into different pieces, they pass a comprehensive immigration reform. Just one bill to fix everything," said Cortez.

Cortez said he's excited for those who will benefit from the reform. He knows there's more work to be done.

"They say we have to compromise but I really feel we have compromised enough. We have to keep pushing," said Cortez.

"Asking people to call their congressmen, call congressmen Goodlatte and ask him to vote yes on immigration reform," said Castillo.

With the bill passed and now heading to the House, President Obama said he would like to see a decision made by the end of 2013.

Congressman Bob Goodlatte has said that the house hopes to pass its version of immigration reform in August.
